Charity Spotlight: Tim Brown goes the extra yard

Charity Spotlight: Tim Brown goes the extra yard

The College Football Playoff Foundation announced this past May the start of a charity initiative called “Extra Yard for Teachers”. The program is designed to provide training and resources for teachers across the country, while promoting college awareness among students.

As part of that goal, the CFP recently donated and hung college banners in 500 elementary schools across North Texas, site of the inaugural College Football Playoff national championshp game in January of 2015.

Heisman winner Tim Brown did his part, too.

Notre Dame’s 1987 trophy recipient is originally from the Dallas area, so this was an iniative close to his heart. A few weeks ago, Brown visited his old elementary school, Mt. Auburn, to hang a Fighting Irish banner and talk to the kids about focusing on college.

Have a look at video of the event:

Funding for the College Football Playoff Foundation and the Extra Yard for Teachers Initiative comes from the licensing revenue generated from CFP merchandise sales in addition to donations from corporations, host committees and individuals.

For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Shawn Moore, Director of Community Relations, at [email protected].
