Heisman Hopefuls Fan Vote is Live

The 2026 Heisman Hopefuls Fan Vote is officially open, giving college football fans across the country the opportunity to make their voices heard, and have that voice count in the official Heisman Trophy voting results. Fans can vote once each day throughout the season, ranking their top three choices on a 3-2-1 ballot. Those votes will ultimately be aggregated into one official Fan Vote ballot in the overall Heisman Trophy tabulation, with three points awarded to the fans’ first-place selection, two to second and one to third.

The fan vote is open to everyone. Every Program. Every Position. Every Player. More than 15,000 student-athletes are represented within the Heisman Hopefuls Field, allowing fans to discover, follow and vote for outstanding players from across college football.

The Fan Vote is at the heart of Heisman Hopefuls, Heisman’s new season-long analytics, storytelling and fan engagement platform. Built with the support of Heisman AI and technology service provider Next League, the Hopefuls experience brings player data, performance metrics, EA SPORTS College Football player ratings, storytelling and fan voting together in one destination.  Fans will now have more information on student-athletes from every position and program ultimately providing a pathway into the national Heisman conversation.

Every program, every position, and every player has the opportunity to earn his way into that conversation.”

While the Fan Vote has been part of the official Heisman Trophy tabulation since 1999, the 2026 season introduces a significant evolution. In partnership with the Carnegie Mellon Sports Analytics Center (CMSAC), the Fan Vote now uses a season-long weighted model that gives greater weight to votes cast later in the season, as players build a larger body of work and conference races, rivalry games and postseason implications intensify. Fans can vote every day. The season-long results will ultimately produce the fans’ collective first-, second- and third-place selections, that will be included alongside the ballots cast by the Heisman electorate composed of college football media and Heisman Winners in determining the 2026 Heisman Trophy winner.

For the first time, the fans go first. The Fan Vote results will be revealed during Conference Championship Weekend, before the Heisman electorate begins voting. The fans’ first-, second- and third-place selections will become the first official ballot in the 2026 Heisman Trophy tabulation, giving media members and Heisman Winners an additional data point to consider as they make their own independent selections. This isn’t just a chance for fans to join the Heisman conversation. Their collective vote will officially count in determining who wins the Heisman Trophy.
